Prince Mateen and Princess Anisha of Brunei have announced their baby's name
The royal couple's first child was born on Feb. 8, 2026
The update came with a tender photo of the new family of three
Prince Mateen and Princess Anisha of Brunei are sharing the first photo and name of their new baby girl.
On Feb. 11, Prince Mateen, 34, shared the first photo of his family of three on social media and announced the name of his new baby girl.
"Zahra Mariam Bolkiah ♥️," Mateen wrote below the photo on Instagram. "Anisha & I are so grateful to the incredible team at JPMC for their exceptional care and support, and so thankful to everyone for the kind wishes."
The tender photo showed Prince Mateen smiling at the camera as he proudly held baby Zahra, who was born on Feb. 8, while Princess Anisha, 31, looked on lovingly. The royal couple matched in black outfits and stood together in what appeared to be a nursery stocked with books and toys.

The comments section was flooded with love, including well-wishes from Princess Beatrice's husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who is also a girl dad to their two daughters.
"Congratulations Mateen and Anisha. Zahra ❤️," Edo wrote.
Prince Mateen gave another glimpse into his daughter's first days on Feb. 13 and posted a photo that showed him proudly holding a sleeping Zahra to his Instagram Stories.
According to The Bump, Zahra is an Arabic girls' name meaning "brilliance," "splendor," "bright" and "flower." Her middle name, Mariam, is interpreted as a tribute to her grandmothers, as Mateen's mother's first name is Mariam and Anisha's mother's name is Siti Mariam. Bolkiah nods to the royal House of Bolkiah, of which Prince Mateen is a member as a child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the ruler of Brunei.
A princess title was not announced with Zahra's name, and she did not join the Bruneian line of succession. The sultanate's constitution dictates that only Islamic males are eligible for the throne, and Prince Mateen is currently fifth in line.
Over the weekend, Bruneian outlet RTB News announced the news that Mateen and Anisha had welcomed a daughter.
"In compliance with the orders of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, hereby announces that His Royal Highness Princess Anisha Rosnah binti Adam, wife of His Royal Highness Prince Muda 'Abdul Mateen ibni His Royal Highness Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, with the permission of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala, has safely given birth to a daughter on Sunday, 20th, Syaaban, 1447 corresponding to 8th, February, 2026, at 8.50 am," said a message from the outlet, translated into English.
